SPHERE Project Team

Beran Djemal Dağtaş

Advocacy Project Coordinator

She is a communications, advocacy and project expert with many years of experience in civil society, media and EU projects in Cyprus.  Sphere project coordinator, Djemal has played an active role in areas such as patients’ rights, youth, bi-communal cooperation and social data. With a background in journalism, she has gained experience in content creation, discourse analysis and stakeholder management, and has developed strategic advocacy campaigns. She provides professional input into project design and implementation processes within the Turkish Cypriot civil society sector.

Arif Osum

Communication and Awareness Specialist

Arif Osum views communication not merely as a tool, but as a means of amplifying the voice of civil society. Having gained experience in event coordination, digital content production and EU visibility standards whilst working at B&S Europe, HRMA and UNDP, Osum has always prioritised ensuring that the work of civil society organisations reaches a wider audience. Taking on the role of communications and awareness-raising lead for the SPHERE project, Osum is working to make the project’s social impact visible.

Süreyya Çelmen Değer

Financial Manager and FSTP Coordinator

Süreyya Çelmen Değer has demonstrated her commitment to civil society through her actions ever since her postgraduate studies. Her track record of work with organisations such as KADER, SOS Children’s Villages and PeacePlayers-Cyprus reflects not merely a career, but a vision of a Cyprus where equality, justice and diversity are celebrated as assets. As a founding member and Chair of the Executive Board of SiTi, Değer is also involved in the SPHERE project with the same conviction: she manages the financial processes and lays the strategic groundwork for advocacy work.

Cemil Hafız

Fundraising Mentor

Cemil Hafız says he spent his nineteen years at the SOS Children’s Villages Association grappling with a single question: “Where will we find the resources to keep this work going?” In pursuit of this question, he has designed multi-channel fundraising campaigns, developed corporate social responsibility projects, and delivered dozens of fundraising training sessions to the Turkish Cypriot civil society. Hafız, who mentors CSOs on financial sustainability within SPHERE, continues to ask this question and seek answers.
